A small Shih Tzu dog was dumped outside the Richmond Animal Care and Control (RACC) shelter facility in Virginia. She was inside a garbage bag.

Upon encountering the terrible scene, those in charge of the place could not believe that the animal was still alive. The poor puppy had lost most of its fur and had a terrible skin infection.

Apparently was found in plastic bag behind an old church. They picked her up and dumped her in the shelter.

“We are grateful that she is here and that she is alive,” said Christie Chipps Peters, director of the RACC. “We are very angry that this has happened.”

By that time Peters was not in the shelter. Quickly, the entire team of the place began to attend to the multiple problems of the poor dog. Mainly an infection in her upper respiratory tract, her conjunctivitis and her teeth.

“She has never received any type of medical attention so we will do everything possible to help her. Her lungs were making a weird noise. Additionally, she is taking antibiotics that will help her get out anything that is not supposed to be there,” Peters said.

They named the dog Annabelle. Despite all the suffering she had been through, she remained positive. Annabelle is the sweetest dog. Nowadays she never stops wagging her tail.

Luckily, the cute little dog is already adopted. She is completely happy in the loving home she always deserved. She has left behind all her physical and psychological wounds, next to her new canine brother and her family.

Without a doubt, Annabelle’s sad life story refreshes our memory the importance of taking care of animals. Also to never treating animals as an object that can be easily thrown away.
