And it is that, no one deserves a fate like the one that had to experience a defenseless puppy that was seen lying between the grass and the edge of a road in Connecticut, United States.

They left him alone, with only a blanket as his only loyal companion to keep him warm from the intense cold.

His legs were totally frozen , which caused him intense pain every time he tried to stand up and walk.

Fortunately, a passing runner spotted him and contacted the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter , who eventually rescued him and are currently recovering him.

“The worst fate that a pet can suffer is to face abandonment, just like this puppy did who had to endure one of the coldest nights of the year in the street, without protection. They left him alone, in fear and with a towel as his only coat,” said the athlete who found the pet.

“We have information that leads us to believe the dog was abandoned there at 11:30 p.m. Saturday night. The dog was not found until after 7:00 am on Sunday morning. We have opened an investigation into this animal rejection,” the shelter reported on its social media account.

The quadruped was named Lincoln and is still recovering and progressing slowly, with all the treatments he needs.

Normally, the first two or three days in a shelter are the most critical and traumatic for an animal that has been abused, ignored and treated cruelly, since it is not only about giving them the medical attention they require at the moment.

They are almost always depressed, sad and distrustful dogs . For this reason, it is very important to treat them with love and with a lot of patience, to gain their trust in order to offer them that long-awaited new beginning.
