The Elkmont Trackless Train Half Marathon in Alabama received a surprise entrant when Ludivine, a two-and-a-half-year-old Bloodhound accidently joined the race after being let out for a pee in her yard.
After a pee-break, Ludivine saw hundreds of people running and thought it looked like a really fun game! Intrigued, along with 165 runners, she quickly decided to join in the game and ran along alongside the competitors. Ludivine set off with the athletes, proceeding to run the entire 13.1 mile circuit.
Runners in the marathon said that she went off track on a number of occasions, even taking detours to explore interesting smells. However, that did not stop her from coming in 7th place in just over an hour and a half. She even received a medal for her efforts and her owner, April Hamlin was surprised but all in all, very proud.
What an amazing story! Congratulations to Ludivine the Bloodhound and her owner. Please share this story with your friends and family members. This goofy pooch and her athletic aspirations definitely will brighten up their day.
