There is no doubt that the majority of street cats have a hard life battling for survival.
Those who have it worst are not exactly pleasing to the eye! Such was the case for a street cat known as Gülümser living in Istanbul, Turkey, who suffered in ways no animal deserves to. Gülümser was born in a pile of rubbish and filth.
She spent the first four weeks of her life meowing for help only to be ignored by all who came across her. After four weeks, Gülümser had become horribly disfigured. Unfortunately she was missing one of her ears, and barely had a tongue left with a miss happened mouth.
Due to her appearance, no one wanted to get close to her. Finally a seven years old girl heard a crying for help. She found a very sick kitten hiding amongst the trash. The beauty of childhood innocence meant the little girl wanted to help the kitten as soon as possible.
Her father, a physician, decided to treat the poor kitten. So Gülümser placed her paws on the road that would hopefully lead to recovery. She was given food, medication, food, and much-needed reconstructive surgery, and most importantly love.
With all the love, care, and attention she received she slowly began to turn the corner. She was brave and had the will to live. In essence, one beautiful soul has saved another.
As the weeks and months by Gülümser transformed into a happy, carefree feline, in the process of recovery finding her forever home. All thanks to a little girl with a big heart.
