Completely blind with no Mom anywhere to be seen. When she picked up the tiny Calico, she climbed onto her chest and refused to let go.
With her eyes rusted shut, she was found frightened and alone in someone’s front yard. Completely blind she couldn’t see, the frightened Calico kitten had nowhere to go and no one to take care of her.
When she arrived at BabyCats Rescue in Sanford, North Carolina earlier this month, Kaite Rodriguez held her for the first time.
The tiny Calico climbed up onto her chest wrapping her front legs around her and refusing to let go. Now she was safe, all she wanted to do was to cuddle.
Once there she refused to leave. She was skin and bone, blind due to an infection, she had been found just in time. She was given the name Mala, a kitten who loved to cuddle with just about everyone she came into contact with.
“She’s super clingy — having been found all alone, she needs a heartbeat next to her,” said Katie.
Severely underweight, Mala weighed in at a paltry seven ounces, less than a 4-week old kitten. However, she had one thing in her favor, she had a very healthy appetite.
Having been alone at such an early age, her favorite pastime apart from eating was snuggling and cuddling. Mala didn’t like being alone, she needed to feel loved.
Once she got over her initial fear nothing fazed her. The shelter has a resident dog named Burt, who likes to take care of new arrivals. Once he heard her tiny meows he came running.
Mala would snuggle into his tail, and make biscuits in his fur, the whole while purring away ferociously.
Soon she began to feel better, though she was still a bit congested her eyes cleared up and she began putting on weight.
However, because of her loving nature and need for company Katie thought Mala needed a friend.
Katie thought she might have found the perfect match for Mala?
As Katie was considering possible matchups for Mala she was contacted regarding another kitten who needed foster care.
Because of some storms she had wandered into a workshop. Katie was soon contacted and the tiny tuxedo soon found herself taking a flea bath and having her ears treated for mites.
A real cuddle bug perhaps she could be the perfect friend for Mala?
“Her name is 2%. She looks like a dairy cow and this little girl is a snuggle bug and loves a soft blanket to curl up on. Such a wonderful little bean,” said Katie.
There was a little hissing from Mala when she was introduced to 2%. But as Katie said, this was just growing pains. Pretty soon they were hitting it off.
“Well. These two are getting along swimmingly, it’s really effing cute to watch them play with each other,” Katie said.
Katie was beginning to hope that perhaps these two could be adopted as a pair?
These two cute girls continued to well, putting on weight and playing their hearts out. Then cuddling and snuggling, napping together.
“Mala and 2per are getting bigger and stronger!”
Soon they were both ready for adoption. After a few weeks of waiting patiently the perfect family was found and the two girls found themselves in their forever, soon fitting right in.
“My sweet, wonderful girls are doing great in their new home!”
“2per is already stealing food right out of their mouths and Mala is playing her heart out.”
