Elderly Sick Dog Awaited Her End In A Landfill Without Knowing Help Was On The Way

Animal rescuers receive numerous reports every day, but the case of this particular dog broke the heart of Victor Lakhill and his rescue team in Spain. This was a relatively old canine with obvious physical deterioration and to whom life had not been kind at all.

The helpless dog was living in a landfill in deplorable conditions.

Surrounded by waste, flies, rodents and mountains of pollution everywhere, lived the helpless Maya. This elderly dog was reported to the volunteers of Let’s Adopt International, a foundation led by Victor Lakhill.

The place where the canine lived was surrounded by dozens of dangerous elements. A man, before reporting her to the foundation, decided to build her a little house with plastic sheeting so that she could take shelter. His idea perfectly worked, as the intelligent Maya stayed in place until help arrived.

Animal Rescue volunteers arrived at the landfill to rescue her from her ordeal.

Victor rescued the dog in the middle of a cold and rainy night, the furry dog was in the little blue house that the other good man had built for her.

Maya’s condition was pitiful, she had skin problems, her eyes were covered with tear ducts due to a serious problem in her tear ducts and the lack of constant grooming. She was also suffering from painful mastitis, her teeth were falling out of her mouth and she had abrasions on different parts of her body.

She needed urgent help.

This poor dog had probably been used as a “caretaker” in that terrible dump, a pretty outrageous situation. But the good thing was that everything was about to change.

Although she looked terrible, the little dog turned out to be a real charmer. As soon as Maya saw her rescuer she knew she had come to help, and she docilely allowed herself to be put on a leash and driven to the car that would take her to freedom.

Maya followed Victor’s instructions to the letter and once in the car she was put into the cage as instructed.

She is truly one of the most helpful and cooperative furry dogs we have ever seen in any rescue. In general, canines are often fearful, reluctant and even violent in the presence of strangers. They have a hard time understanding that you just want to help them.

The rescuer drove Maya across town to the health center where she would be treated. A veterinarian determined that the dog was suffering from anemia, Anaplasma and Ehrlichia; the latter are diseases caused by parasites and ticks.

After getting a diagnosis, Maya received a good bath and the necessary food to begin her rehabilitation process.

Now the dog was not alone and everything had to be done to get her out of her sorry state.

During the process of her recovery, this elderly dog was surrounded by the best specialists and caregivers. They not only gave her a lot of attention, but also a lot of love and soon Maya began to show her gratitude.

Unfortunately, during her recovery, a hidden enemy grew inside her and the furry dog was about to hang up her paws, due to a tumor.

Thankfully, this was detected and removed through an operation, which meant another great test for Maya.

But this dog showed all her strength and managed to pull through.

In fact, she recovered so well that she was ready to find a home and, after a long debate, the volunteers found her ideal family.

A woman named Dalhia and her husband and daughter decided to make Maya the darling of their family and the center of their home.

As soon as she met them, Maya melted with all the attention and caresses they gave her. That was surely one of her happiest days after so much loneliness spent in that dump.

Thanks to these angels this old and sick dog now has a place to spend the rest of her days and feel happy.
