Arbuckle weighed 116 kilos when he was left face down near a farmhouse. He could hardly walk because his small paws could not support his weight. A Purposeful Rescue in Los Angeles grabbed him and promised to help him.
A veterinary examination revealed that Arbuckle suffered from hypothyroidism and that this was the reason why his body was swelling like a balloon. Arbuckle was unable to move due to painful joints. That’s why they based his initial treatment on medication. Over time he lost weight and was able to walk again!
Once Arbuckle started losing weight, there was no turning back. That’s when actress Jane Lynch and her partner heard about Arbuckle and choose to adopt him. They grant him a loving home where he will live forever. Arbuckle became a celebrity because his difficult journey to lose weight gave hope and motivation to many others. No wonder he is called the miracle dog!

We are very sorry to hear of Arbuckle’s recent death. He was 9 years old. After his death, the shelter received donations of up to $5,000 overnight from people who cared about Arbuckle and wanted to celebrate his inspiring life. We hope you light us up from the stars, Arby. Rest in peace, sweet soul.
