Luma and Picasso are a special pair of puppies facing their own difficulties. Despite coming from troubled pasts, both are fortunate to have a loving rescuer, along with an impressively strong will.
Liesl Wilhardt is a very dedicated animal rescuer and founder of the Adorable Dog Rescue in Oregon. She has always had a deep passion for helping animals. Therefore, Liesl started her foundation in hopes of saving as many furry lives as possible.
Picasso has a very special smile that not everyone is capable of valuing.
It is no wonder a loving person like her takes up the challenge of bringing home pups like Picasso and Luma. In Picasso’s case, he was delivered along with his brother to a shelter, when his original master had trouble taking care of them.
The two pups were extremely close, but Picasso stood out from his brother. He was born with a facial deformity that led him to resemble a famous painting by the Spanish artist. His muzzle appears to be “crooked” giving him a distinctive look that some people just did not get.
Shortly after his arrival, Picasso and his brother found themselves on the shelter’s euthanasia list . Just as she was about to run out of time, Liesl came into her life and transferred these friends to her Luvable Dog Rescue.
Luma is an adorable dog who must face her bone deformities.
While being welcomed into his new home, something painful and unexpected happened to Picasso’s brother. The puppy died suddenly due to an aneurysm. With the sudden loss of his brother, Picasso had to rely on his new adoptive mother.
In his care, Picasso has grown into the most affectionate, sensitive and lovable dog you can imagine. He accepts his differences and uses them to help others! This pup now serves as a therapy animal for disabled children, humans, and other dogs.
That was how one day Luma came home. The little pup had severe deformities in all four limbs, forcing her to move like a small sea turtle. The original plan was to bring Luma to the rescue in hopes of putting her through physical therapy to help her walk.
After taking X-rays, they found out that their deformities were much more serious than they thought. It was noticeable that her shoulders, elbows and wrists were all deformed. There was no physiotherapy capable of making Luma walk. No matter how serious the serious diagnosis was, Liesl was not going to give up!
Luma enjoys all the affection she receives, regardless of her disability to walk.
He resorted to various wheelchairs in an effort to get Luma moving. After trying again and again, they finally figured out that Luma was happiest displacing her on her own. She really loves moving on her belly, and she has no problem doing it!
Now Luma and Picasso are inseparable friends. These two puppies truly find joy in each other’s presence and in the arms of their wonderful savior. Both of these amazing baby mice are testament to making the most of everything you have and living it to the fullest no matter what.
Liesl extremely enjoys all the time spent with her beloved pair of special puppies.
