A dog tied up to a filthy kennel survived by eating rotten fruit from a nearby apple tree.
Ziemek is a handsome dog. He is mixed breed living his very best dog life with a loving family in Poland. He has everything a dog could want or need. His owners say he’s the happiest guy they’ve ever met. Ziemek approaches every new day with pure joy.
But things haven’t always been this good for Ziemek. Instead, he has a tragic backstory that would break any dog lover’s heart. Rescuers found Ziemek chained to a dirty kennel outside an abandoned rural property a few hours from one of Poland’s biggest cities.
They found him with an empty food bowl. There was no sign of his previous owners. For sure they had no heart and left him like that. Given the state of his coat and skinny frame, vets think Ziemek was out there for weeks.
He only survived thanks to a nearby apple tree. Ziemek would eat the rotten fruit that fell on the floor. When rescuers found him, there were no more apples on the tree. An examination by the vet suggests that Ziemek hadn’t eaten for more than 10 days.
If he would have been there for some days more, Ziemek would have starved to death. But he’s got a full belly now. And Ziemek always sleeps inside, not far from the special humans who agreed to give him a proper home.
His transformation has been truly amazing. Ziemek has filled out nicely and has a brightness in his eyes. He looks very happy and has started to gain some weight. From an abandoned dog to a pampered pooch, this is how every rescue story should end.
