From Germany: News of the death of a puppy that was loved and adored not just by shelter staff, but by Facebook followers around the world.

The post simply reads “Yuri is dead”. The small six week old puppy died of Parvovirus in August of 2020. Yuri was purchased from a dealer in Hamburg just a week before he died.

The owner brought the dog to the Henstedt-Ulzburg Care Centre. Dog was unwell ,heartbroken when were told about the disease and the grave prognosis.

According to vets at the centre, Yuri’s siblings are also fighting for their lives. Their little bodies wracked by the fearsome disease.

In a Facebook post, the centre writes about an organised racket of puppy farms in the area. The farm advertises healthy, clean and vaccinated puppies for sale.

But adverts appear on the internet, and every few days they are removed only to reappear under a different name. Puppy farms are the scourge of all those who care about the wellbeing of dogs and cats.

They are called farms for a reason: because they churn out dozens of puppies born of weary and unwell mothers who are bred constantly, regardless of the damage caused.

If you wish to adopt a dog or cat please do so by visiting one of the UK’s listed charity shelters. Small and large there are 100s of shelters in Britain that deliver exceptional care to their animals.
