A real estate agent, ended up finding what appears to be a dumping ground for dog fighters.
There, he looked across a one single Pit Bull. ‘Rock Hill’ real estate agent, Casey Lawrence found the injured Pit Bull dumped in the woods after getting lost while showing a property. The dog was discarded and left to die after likely being used as a bait dog by dog fighters.
Bones and animal carcasses had sadly covered the place. Fortunately, Casey found the dog, now named Rambo, in time! She rushed Rambo to ‘Baxter Veterinary Clinic’. Bite marks and lacerations were all over his body. The wounds on his legs were infected with gangrene.
The clinic’s staff set to work to save Rambo’s life. Firstly, they gently cleaned out his wounds. They gave him antibiotics and IV and monitored him closely. After two days, Rambo was sitting up and wagging his tail a little bit.
He also showed some interest in eating, much to the relief of his vets. Unfortunately, Rambo is not out of the woods yet.The vet also noticed an injury on the back of his right leg that it had to be amputated.
Because of the extent of Rambo’s injuries, he went to ‘Charlotte Animal Referral & Emergency for further treatment. The doctors are hoping to save Rambo’s left leg, which they say is “still in limbo”.
“Both hind limbs have suffered trauma due to ties around his ankles,” CARE wrote on Facebook. “He is a trooper and will wag his tail and give kisses despite the abuse he has endured.”
Every Life Matters Animal Rescue’ is supporting Rambo during his recovery. In a strike of good fortune it turns out that realtor Casey is a board member for the rescue!
The following update after Rambo’s first surgery: “He’s been very out of it today from the anesthesia but he knows you are there. When you leave he puts his paw up for you to come back.”
Everyone involved is hoping police investigate the area where Casey found Rambo. Maybe they can find out who is behind the illegal activities. In the meantime, Rambo’s rescuers have their fingers crossed that he will continue to get better!
Update:Rambo has a wonderful loving home where his family cares for him deeply.
