The rescue team received a rather unusual call from a local cat shelter, who received a kitten that turned out to be not the cat they thought it was .

It was a small fox that was later transferred to wildlife care. Foxes are usually born from February to March.

Fox cubs can have a very kitten-like appearance, they are born with drooping ears, flattened faces and lots of fur . So they may go unnoticed and mistaken for a fussy dog ​​for the first few months of life.

This baby drinks milk from the bottle three times a day.

Fran Hill is the manager of Cuan Wildlife Rescue , she points out that some people often think that it is a kitten since they do not look like a fox when they are just a pup .

It is not the first time that cases like this have been dealt with at the shelter, in this regard Hill comments:

“We’ve had some in the past that have been raised by people for a month or two and then they realize it’s not a cat.”

Like all mothers with their young, foxes are very protective , so it is rare for a fox cub to be separated from her.

Usually, this species feels threatened when they have pups to protect and are constantly looking for shelter to care for the family.

The fox will sometimes move her cubs if she is worried about their current position. She leads one by one to the new destination. If she is teased or challenged, she may drop the pup.”

Luckily the little puppy was rescued in time, after performing a medical check-up they discovered that he had some scratches on his face , standing out more in the nose area.

Soon the little fox will begin to eat on his own.

He had no serious injuries, so it was a great relief for the volunteers to be able to care for the fox cub, since he is so small, he needs constant observation, only then will he grow healthy and strong and be able to function in his natural habitat.
