The animal rescue cases that impressed us most were the abandoned ones.
Luckily, there are always people willing to change and improve their world. Thus begins the story of Dong-Jin, a puppy found in a plot of land in Jeongdongjin, a small town in Korea.
Dong-Jin belongs to the Samoyed breed, with a prominent feature of thick and silky coat. However, Dong-Jin is in fact bald and can see bones under his skin.
Ek Park, the founder of Free Korean Dogs , went to great lengths to rescue him. They are a dog rescue organization from Korea where they still tend to have farms for consumption and have very little respect for these animals.
They connect with North America, for adoption and for a place where they can be safe and give them love. Park had to legally threaten Dong-Jin’s owner until he finally handed him over.
The vets weren’t sure if they could do anything for him. He was skin and bones and sick. They didn’t know if his body would be able to withstand all the drugs they needed to put on him.
They started treating the terrible case of demodex mange that he had and feeding him. Sadly he was completely malnourished. The poor dog was on the verge of death. His whole body was completely deteriorated, but apparently his mind was very strong.
In just four months a change began to be noticed. His fur began to grow and his weight was undoubtedly increasing. In addition his mood was very good.
The transformation he had undergone was incredible. He started to look like he was completely another dog. In just 6 months he was a completely different dog. No one would have imagined that he was on the verge of death.
Dog was ready to be adopted, so Park posted his profile on the Free Korean Dogs page. A Canadian family fell in love with him.
They had a large yard and the woman is a writer, working from home the puppy would never be alone. And as if that were not enough, he would have a little brother to play with, since they have another dog.
Park said, “I am so happy that he is alright now, Dong-Jin is like a miracle, and knowing that he will be alright is comforting.”
Now we are happy to see photos of Dong-Jin, running across the green lawn and playing with his new brother. It is certainly an example of the damage that abandonment can do to us. And that with a little love and dedication we can completely change a life.
