The frigid winter weather in Indiana, was so intense a few weeks ago.

It took its toll on some animals covered in snow, trying to survive on the streets. A pair of good samaritans were driving down a snow-covered road. They took a passing glance at a lump of ice on the side of the road.

It wasn’t till they got closer that they saw the lump of ice take shape. Quickly realized it was a snow-covered cat, clearly in bad shape if not already dead. As the car pulled up, the glow of the headlights illuminated a pair of orange eyes peering back at the occupants of the car.

Poor mommy cat wasn’t albe to take care of her kittens because of the cold weather.

The cat was still alive, curled up in the snow, vainly trying to stay warm. Just skin and bones, she was in poor condition with a very round, possibly pregnant belly.

Right away the couple gently plucked her to safety and contacted Catsnip Etc, a volunteer-based cat rescue in Goshen, Indiana. The poor cat purred all the way to the shelter, grateful to be rescued.

Given the name, Camilla, she was over the moon to be in a warm environment. How long she had been suffering in the cold was unclear, but it must have been for a lengthy period. She wolfed down a large meal, before curling up and drifting off to sleep.

Poor cat was found outside on the road,in cold and pregnant.

Two days after being rescued she gave birth to four healthy kittens. Except for the orange and white kittens, the kittens are all females. We are extremely appreciative to the kind individuals that came to fetch her up.

Camilla feels quite fortunate to be secure and warm with her children. We had intended to have her for a longer period of time so she could be healthy before the twins arrived, but that did not happen. Due to poor condition, her milk supply did not kick in on time.

“She is completely unconcerned when we arrive to assist them in feeding them. We believe she recognizes the need for more assistance and expresses gratitude,” the rescue went on to say.

The pregnant cat has now given birth to four kittens but she doesn’t have enough milk because of starvation.

She didn’t really recognize us the first day she had the babies, so when we went to her room, she would sit and cover them to protect them. She is more than pleased to visit each other and let us check on the tiny ones now.

After her babies had finished feeding, Camilla will wipe their faces right away, enjoying being able to raise her babies in a safe home the entire family has such a bright future to look forward to.
