Dog Labeled As “Ugly And Filthy” By His Own Family Is Abandoned At The Veterinarian To Be Put To Eternal Sleep

Let us show you about the amazing reincarnation of Nik Nak, a living being who had the misfortune of being subjected to the scorn of his own family. His owners showed no concern for his well-being, not wanting him to receive medical help and letting him suffer. They denied him all what he most needed: a little love.

The owners brutally decided to hand their dog over to a vet in Overberg, Cape Town, South Africa for euthanization. They thought he was a lousy dog, but in fact, he had a better fate.

It happened two years ago and today you will be delighted to know that this furry has a new identity and image, but the most important thing is that he has more life than ever.

By then, this corgi-mix puppy would be about seven years old. He appeared visibly sick and dejected, with part of his ear mutilated, a broken leg, malnutrition and scabs all over his face. This was all caused by neglect; it was precisely the condition of his skin that led the owners to get rid of him.

That day in the room everyone was terrified to hear the words of those heartless owners: “It is too gross to keep alive, put it to sleep, the world would be a better place without it, not with it.”

The receptionist could not hide her disgust at the attitude shown towards this poor animal. Eventually, they left him at the clinic. To her surprise, this puppy was still in his cage, the option of euthanasia had been forgotten. Actually, the only horrible thing about this dog was enduring the suffering and contempt of his family.

It was the same receptionist who contacted the animal rescue network, Sidewalk Specials. Immediately, the founder Rachel Sylvester responded to the call. Although she was in the United Kingdom, she did not hesitate to save him, another angel in his favor.

“Even though he was out of the country, our network stepped in and people started showing up who, knowing of his terrible misery, were happy to give him a chance. It was an amazing relief,” Rachel explained.

This is how the volunteer Kamilla Nurock, a resident of Cape Town, a local television producer, appeared. Learning that he needed help, without a second thought she offered to raise Nik Nak during his recovery. She soon she was driving to pick him up.

The vets were happy that Nik Nak was no longer in the hands of his cruel owners. The adventure of his recovery had begun.

“When I picked him up, he was in poor condition. He had been through a lot of suffering,” Nurock said.

The first thing was to give him a good bath and treat his paws with a complete pedicure. They made sure to give him all the treatment and care he needed.

Nik Nak was supposed to stay for a week with Nurock. She took care of him and prepared for the beautiful day when he was ready to move into a new home; however, she never left her side. She simply realized that she couldn’t give him up, she had found the lovely dog ​​she had been waiting for so long and it was there, right before her eyes.

Little by little the diseased layers of skin began to disappear and his health began to improve.

“For a long time I had been looking to adopt, but someone told me something very true, that one would come soon, because you don’t choose the dog, he chooses you,” Nurock said.

Nurock decided to adopt him and now he is a permanent resident in his apartment in Green Point, he wanted to give him a name that coincides with his new life, now he is called Newman, like the character of Jerry Seinfeld, a well-known series of the 90s.

Neighbors affectionately called him the space dog. He looked like an astronaut, for his frequent use of the “cone of shame” until his wounds healed.

Newman is free to have fun at all times. He has no shortage of fun walks to the park or the beach.

He has gone through such a long process and unbelievable change, it’s hard to believe it’s the same dog, sure that anything can be achieved with just a little will and love, he has everything he needs to be happy. He has always been handsome, but now he looks radiant.
