On that fine morning, Jose Eduardo Millani Ramos headed out for a walk near his home in Brazil. He had no idea about what will going to happen next. As Ramos leaves for his walks, his beloved dog Ikki used to trail a short distance behind him. But on this day when Ramos returns home, the pup was nowhere to be seen.

Ramos and his family began to search the streets for Ikki and to ask others to keep an eye out. They were all shocked that they miss their pet. “It felt like part of me had been taken away. I needed to know what happened to him”, Ramos said.

After two days of searching, they found no clue about Ikki. Then accidentally Ramos saw a post online that a lost dog had been rescued. And he recognized the pup’s tell-tale spots. Ikke had been found! Or had he?

Ramos flew to reunite with Ikki. It was filled with joy upon seeing his wagging tail again. He was dirtier than he had seen him last time. The dog was in good health. He ran out immediately when Ramos called him by his name. He didn’t stop licking him.

Back at home, the dog quickly settled into his cheerful ways and behaved identically to how he always had. “He kissed me. We played. I felt complete again”, Ramos said.

But, the only thing was this wasn’t actually Ikki.

After a few days passed with the dog at home, Ramos noticed that some of the spots on his back didn’t match up to those he remembered on Ikki. Comparing the dog he had taken to photos of Ikki, he realized the truth. This dog was an imposter.

The family was shocked. But they were not upset. Then they loved this imposter dog whom they decided to name Paolo. It means that the real Ikki is still missing, but not for much longer.

Ramos resumed his search online and found a post that another dog resembling Ikki had been found and happily, this pup got the same spots as Ikki. Again Ramos flew to pick up his missing dog. Only for this time, it was really him.

Ikki is finally back! All had been set right. But the family decided to keep both dogs at home.

Thanks to Ikki now Paolo has a home too. He is no longer a homeless dog. He deserves a home too. Best of all, Ikki acts closer with his new homie. They act as if they have always been together. They are great friends now!
