Found Thin And Sick, Rescued Dog Won Her Battle

The story of Athena shows how much the strength and courage of a little being can lead to great transformations. All with the magic touch of the volunteers.

Unfortunately still in 2023 there are people who enjoy abandoning animals and ignoring them. This happens even when their path crosses, despite their being in disastrous conditions.

Fortunately, however, there are also those who do not remain indifferent. Together with the work of volunteers from shelters, we help our four-legged friends and give them a second chance.

In November 2022, the Etneo Animal Shelter receives a report: a dog in poor condition wanders aimlessly through the streets of a small town in the Catania area. The poor dog was very thin: she weighed only 9 kilos. In reality a dog her size should weigh at least 18. She had a compromised liver and had tested positive for erlichia.

Her human aunts immediately took care of her: they fed her, washed her, cared for her. They made sure that the four paws regained the will to live, despite the his fragile initial health. The goal of her volunteers was one: to ensure that Athena, could find a family willing to love her for the rest of her life.

Athena was the name that volunteers gave to puppy. Thanks to free donations and the help of good souls, Athena has really begun to behave like a true fighter. In honor of her name: in just one month she has recovered 4 kilos. Finally, on December 15th she manages to go out for the first time.

Athena made it: the little fighter has conquered all evils. She is ready to be given up for adoption! And finally the long-awaited news arrives on February 19: Athena has found a home! On Saturday 4 March, the warrior left to join her mother Luciana in Vicenza and start her new life with the family.

The transformation of the little girl in just a few months was unique. Her credit goes to her willpower, but especially to the volunteers of the Etneo Refuge, Aunt Chicca and the various donors. They allowed her to rediscover all her splendor.
