A kitten rescued from a concrete wall proved to be a true warrior and fought for his life. The person who first saw him contacted Little Wanderers NYC in Bronx, New York.

His condition was really pitiful, he was malnourished and covered with fleas. With the little strength he had left he meowed begging for help.

Volunteers from the rescue group rushed to the scene to save him and quickly transferred him to the vet. The rescue group commented:

“We named the kitten Clayton (as he was found on Clay Avenue). The veterinary staff admitted him immediately to stabilize his temperature, which was dangerously low.”

After performing a detailed examination, the staff estimated that he was about 8 months old, was severely underweight and had a respiratory tract infection. Although he was very weak, he was doing his best to lift his little head and get attention. The vet staff described his health condition in detail:

“Clayton had hypothermia, a severe upper respiratory infection and ulcers on his tongue. He was on the verge of death, but came back to life within hours of rescue.”

Fortunately, he had the support of an incredible group of people who lovingly and patiently helped him overcome his health problems.

After a great battle, the kitten opened his eyes and managed to breathe much better. It was necessary to control his body temperature so he spent several days in a thermal blanket.

“Clayton is so sweet, he purred when the medical staff looked at him. Our collective guess is that he was outside for three weeks or more based on his condition. He is a real friendly cat, so we don’t understand why no one stepped forward.”

Due to the ulcers on his tongue, the biggest challenge for rescuers is that he managed to eat on his own. But this did not limit him from revealing his adorable personality, he purred and played at all times. On this the rescue group commented:

“A feeding tube would help him get over the hump and provide nutrition to boost his immune system while allowing his upper digestive tract to heal.”

After several days of struggling, this brave kitty proved he still had a lot to live for, gradually making great improvements and was finally discharged. Rebeccah L. a Little Wanderers NYC volunteer took him into her home and gave him all the care and love he needed.

As the days went by he showed that he was gaining strength and finally started eating like a champ. The sweet kitty ate up to two and a half cans a day, overcoming all obstacles against all odds.

He was ready to be put up for adoption, but Rebeccah couldn’t imagine her life without him, so she opted to adopt him, the little miracle kitten was officially a member of her family.

Today Clayton is a completely strong and healthy kitten. Every time his mother brings home a foster kitten, he offers to help her by giving lots of love to the most vulnerable kittens. He gives them the exact same love he received when he was rescued.

“Clayton means everything to me. I wake up most nights and he snuggles in my arms. He is the perfect dad for all my foster cats. Clayton is very patient, kind and funny. I should definitely mention that I laugh all the time at his quirks and mannerisms. He is the perfect boy. That’s why I adopted him. I’m lucky to have him. People want a perfect pet, but the rare ones are the perfect ones,” Rebeccah concluded.

Endless thanks to everyone who rescues, adopts and makes furry lives a beautiful testament to love and teamwork. Don’t forget to share Clayton’s heartwarming story with all your loved ones.
