An amazing rescue, of those that change lives completely!
A dog with only two legs, after ten years of suffering on the streets of Los Angeles, without receiving even the slightest attention, was rescued. Animal Control in conjunction with a rescue organization in San Diego managed to take care of him.
Unfortunately, when he was hit by a car, he injured his two legs, which later had to be amputated, since he had a deep infection and the large number of knots in his hair limited his circulation.
They worked hard to cut his hair without hurting it, it had too many tight knots.
His teeth were also in a chronic state, he had lost several teeth. His rotten teeth were extracted, to prevent the development of severe infections. There was no better solution.
The organization Synergy (Synergy) is responsible for rescuing dogs with special needs, in southern California. Its motto is based on caring for the forgotten, the blind, the sick, those who are one step away from dying, rescuing them to life. They have a great mission.
They sent an email to a family informing them of Bobb, who had been rescued from terrible abandonment and with knots in his hair that would have caused the amputation of his two injured legs. Under normal conditions, his breed needs to cut his hair every 4-6 weeks, he went a full ten years without doing it.
Immediately, upon learning about Bobb, they fell in love with him, and wanted to adopt him. And so it was, after two days of being contacted I was home. This family has two Siberian huskies and two cats, with whom they shared their loving home. So a week passed, receiving attention, rest and lots of pampering.
He returned to Synergy for his medical check-up and they found that he was recovering favorably, the skin on his paws was regenerating very quickly.
This couple was very much in love with Bobb, but they were about to move to another state, Colorado. So Bobb had to return to Synergy, they visited him many times and wanted to process his transfer so that he could go with them and so Carla, director of the organization, began to make the necessary arrangements.
Bobb also visited people with special needs, special children and children’s oncology patients and it was a wonderful experience for them to meet him. He complied with spreading a message of love, compassion and hope through the testimony of his rescue.
Carla kept in constant contact with the family, while Bobb continued his favorable recovery receiving his medical treatment.
In the month of May he was seriously ill due to an abscess in his mouth that had become infected, they were prepared for the worst because the prognosis was not good. He spent several weeks hospitalized receiving intensive treatment.
Although he lost more teeth, he eventually recovered. He won this other battle with a lot of strength. They already had the trip scheduled where Bobb would meet his family, they changed the date to make sure he was completely healthy to travel.
Until finally, in the last days of June, Carla flew from San Diego to Denver with Bobb. When she saw them she remembered them and was excited to see them.
They would be his new family forever. Carla said goodbye to her with mixed feelings, but she knows that she will be in good hands. And she may have space to rescue another dog like Bobb that she needs all her attention.
Bobb shared a lot and enjoyed the company of Kaytu and Denali, the two other dogs in the family.
Regarding his legs, Bobb could not use any type of prosthesis because it would cause him a lot of pain. They are committed to offering you the best quality of life possible. His left rear knee is dislocated and he needs another surgery to study the possibility of using a prosthesis, although there is no guarantee that it will work but only a 25% probability, it would cause him intense pain and that is why the family does not agree to submit him to that procedure. They are grateful to Dr. Dusty at OrthoPets for doing all the necessary testing on Bobb.
Bobb has had to visit a professional hairdresser several times, who with love and treats have trimmed his nails and kept his hair in good shape around his face . Keeping his hair cut properly required several visits. Jaala, he took it upon himself to do a great job and with a lot of patience.
Bobb’s life has changed thanks to the solidarity of animal control officers, the shelter, veterinary medical staff and Synergy, and his life is not one of pain and suffering.
Certainly, he does not have two of his legs but that does not stop him from playing, taking short walks, he can even run. He loves mealtime, having his belly caressed, now he feels sure of himself and his family gives them confidence.
Bobb is an example of strength, survival and struggle. He inspires us to look with kindness at the many little dogs that may need attention and love to survive.
- It is a story that invites us to share a message of solidarity and hope! Send it to all your friends so they can see that all puppies deserve second chances.
