A dog named Powder was dumped in the middle of the Florida Everglades by his heartless owners.
The dog had no idea how to fend for himself in the deserted wetland. He went hungry for days and the harsh environment caused him to develop several infections. The poor dog realized that no one was ever going to find him, so he found a lone spot and waited to die.
That’s when a visiting couple spotted the scared and confused Powder and reached out to him. They called the cops at Broward Sheriff’s Office and assured the weakened dog that he would be getting help soon. But when the cops arrived, they realized that Powder was too sick to even stand.
The cops comforted Powder, gave him food and water, and eventually gained his trust. Then they carried him to the car.
They contacted Dezzy’s Second Chance Animal Rescue and handed over the dog to them for emergency aid. But Powder’s medical examination revealed that the dog wouldn’t have survived for long in the wetland.
Powder had severe, bleeding mange and internal infections. He needed eye surgery, but the vet postponed the surgery till his infections subside. There’s a long road of recovery ahead of him, but at least he is in good hands now.
Although Powder’s owner might never be found, it haunts us to think that the person intentionally left a dog to die in the wilderness. We hope Powder recovers soon and finds a forever home with a responsible family that never abandons him. Stay strong, good boy!
