Toby, a beautiful and one-of-a-kind 8-year-old kitten, has Feline Cutaneous Asthenia (FCA), a disorder in which the cat’s skin is extremely delicate, loose, and easily injured, similar to Ehlers-Danlos syndrome in people. The feline has a distinct and stunning look as a result of this disease.

Toby was crouched in a corner of the shelter when Georgina and her fiancé Christopher Lardner met him, cowering behind his best buddy, another kitty named Quinton. But it didn’t stop the pair from falling for the adorable, bashful kitten.

It indicates that his body isn’t making enough collagen. It doesn’t heal as quickly as it should and leaves a lot of scars.

When the two best friends got adopted they felt overjoyed.

Georgina explains:

“I noticed them on the RSPCA website and fell in love right away.” They were both afraid and crouched in the rear when we met them. Toby shivered the entire time, hiding behind Quinton. Because he was so terrified, I couldn’t even touch him.”

Both kittens were in bad shape when they had arrived at the shelter. Quinton had to have all of his teeth out, and Toby had to have part of his teeth extracted as well. At every stage, the kittens were always together. That’s how the shelter realized they needed each other and needed to find a home together right now.

Georgina knew she had to take them home together as soon as she saw their sorrowful little faces. The couple completed the papers and welcomed them into their family. Toby sought sanctuary with his brother in a hideaway in his new house for the first few weeks.

She went on to say:

“We will constantly look after them and provide all of the love and security they require.”

Quinton made Toby feel protected, so he followed him around everywhere. Toby came out of his shell as Quinton grew more at ease in his new surroundings. Gradually, he began to explore the area, but always under the shadow of his closest companion and guardian.

Georgia explained:

“We had to feed them beneath the bed since they wouldn’t come out till we left the home or went to bed. They gradually grew to trust us, but it was a lengthy process.”

Toby grew used to his new surroundings over time. So one day he started to seek out his new parents’ attention, and he even found embraces. Toby would come dashing over to check what Georgina was doing to and wait for some treats whenever she was in the kitchen.

Georgina described:

“He’s extremely energetic and fun. It’s incredible to see the change in the unhappy and fearful youngster we adopted.”

Georgina continued:

“Quinton is a wonderful big brother who looks for Toby, washing him up when he gets wounded and getting Dad up for breakfast. They stand by the window, waiting for us to return home, and when they see us, they dash to the door. They’re a lot of fun to be around. They infuse the atmosphere with vitality.”

Quinton died two years ago, but his family recalls him as the most beautiful angel that ever existed. Every day, the cat serves as a reminder of how nuanced, clever, perceptive, and caring animals can be.

Toby, on the other hand, requires continual particular attention due to his illness.

“We attempt to keep this under control by clipping his nails, keeping the place clean, and avoiding scratches.” We consider ourselves extremely lucky that Toby’s ailment looks to be relatively minor.”

Georgina and Christopher hope that by sharing Toby’s story, people will become more aware of his unusual disease and consider adopting special-needs cats.
