While traveling down a busy Malaysian highway with his son he thought he saw a piece of plastic hugging the side of the road!

However, when Masz Mauri looked closer he noticed that what he thought was plastic had pointed ears! In shock, he realized it was a cat!

Masz stepped on the brakes as quickly as possible and lept from the car, running up to the cat who had squeezed himself as tightly as possible to the barrier, shivering in terror due to the traffic that roared by.

This was this cat’s lucky day as Masz was co-founder of Kitty Konnexion Community, which provides aid to stray cats in Malaysia and Singapore. What he found that day was a “traumatized and mud-coated” cat. He was shaking in fear and covered in his own feces. Yet he never put up a paw in protest, allowing Masz to pluck him to safety.

He quickly place the cat in the back of the car and gave him the name Danga Boy, who hid underneath the seat meowing loudly. Though he did appear relieved to no longer be on the side of a busy highway.

“It looked like Danga Boy was strapped to either a harness or leash and dragged across the road when it got loose and as it tumbled, it probably fractured the leg in the process,” Masz said.

How Danga Boy got to where he was found is unknown, but he did have a badly fractured leg that was so bad he couldn’t move it.

Danga Boy has been receiving care at a veterinary facility since since Masuri transported the cat there.

Masuri shared images of Danga Boy on social media the same night, which assisted him in finding a new family.

“A Good Samaritan offered to take over his case from us and request they not be named … to maintain their privacy, and we respect that,” Masuri said. “

“They even absorbed all medical bills from us and we ceased appeal for funds from then on.”

And as soon as Danga Boy is released from the vet clinic on Sunday, he’ll go to his new home, where he’ll live with several other cats.

“He is going to be a very happy kitty with lots of siblings waiting for him at home,” Masuri said. “

“For a common stray like Danga Boy, it is usually hard to get anyone to adopt immediately, and getting a response before the day even ends, makes me feel very satisfied and glad.”
