When a dog is left behind by its owner, it is always distressing. Especially when they are discovered to be in such poor condition. Fortunately, there are good people willing to step up, and offer these helpless animals a second shot.

This was the situation lately ,after a pit bull that was dangerously underweight and unable to stand ,was abandoned. But Maggie is now finally making progress toward recovery.

A pit bull named Maggie was taken in by the Orange County Animal Shelter in Virginia on July 29. She was discovered by a citizen, according to WVIR, and was severely underweight. Maggie only weighted 27 pounds. Less than half of what would be considered a healthy weight.

On Friday, July 29, 2022, Orange County Virginia Animal Shelter published a message. Gina Jenkins, the shelter’s director, told WVIR that Maggie “was nearly lifeless, couldn’t move, couldn’t get up, couldn’t walk.”

She claimed the dog had demodectic mange, conjunctivitis, and was also dehydrated and lethargic. Despite the severity of the animal maltreatment, Jenkins is skeptical that the owner will be identified. They are instead concentrating on showing her the affection and attention that she has been denied.

“No one is going to come forward. She will be our firstborn,” said Jenkins.

Maggie is currently in good hands and on the road to recovery, though it won’t be simple given her health. It will reportedly take at least 3 to 4 months. Probably she might never fully regrow her hair.

Everyone is nonetheless adamant about giving this dog the much-needed second chance. Her internet supporters were inspired by her story and gave thousands of dollars for her care.

Although she still has a long way to go, the shelter said that she was improving gradually. We’ll keep everyone informed on her development, we promise. Although she still has a ways to go, Maggie’s disposition has improved.

“She is 100% better now,” Jenkins told WVIR. “It’s amazing what love, care, and nourishment will do for an animal. She adores her blankets and enjoys cuddling up under them.”

She has been settling down and getting comfortable with food and blankets after experiencing such brutality and neglect. Maggie’s abandonment in this manner is terrible, but we are so relieved that she is now safe and recovering.
