A very sick dog was found abandoned in a cage inside a dumpster. A shelter volunteers still don’t know if the puppy will be able to recover. Stories of abandoned animals are unfortunately very frequent.
Photos and posts are shared on social networks that testify to the abandonment by their humans of poor dogs and cats on the street. They are left in terrible conditions. The latest news comes from the United States, precisely in Cabell County, in the state of West Virginia.
Two days ago, locked in a cage inside a waste bin, a poor little dog reduced to skin and bones and unconscious was found by some passers-by. Brought to the nearest shelter, the puppy, who has been given the name of Atticus, has been fighting death for two days.
The dog’s sad story was told by the shelter that welcomed him. The ASAP is a shelter run by a group of volunteers who have set themselves the task of helping sick and injured homeless animals, especially in the city of Huntington.
The four-legged, a mastiff cross with a brownish coat, should be between three and five years old. The puppy was found in very critical health conditions: malnourished, sick and dehydrated. The little dog was unconscious. Veterinary visits showed that Atticus is positive for Lyme and ehrlichiosis, serious diseases of bacterial origin.
Atticus was found so dehydrated, his eyes were completely closed and sunken. Atticus is receiving continuous fluid drips, but in two days of treatment he still hasn’t shown signs of improvement. He doesn’t move and doesn’t seem to react to stimulations.
All these poor animals need help to finally find families ready to give them all the affection they need. It can be hoped that life will improve for Atticus too and that the puppy will begin to react to treatment and recover soon.
