It was morning and suddenly the 4ZRA volunteers received a call about a dog that was in a miserable state.
Despite the many difficulties and emergencies, they had encountered in the last few days, being aware of his situation, there was no way to leave him in those conditions.
“He looked me straight in the eyes and then fell to the ground. He couldn’t get up anymore. His body ran out of strength. Those were his last steps, steps towards death. Mistreated, under the effect of ulcers, desperate that no one would take him off the street and send him to a clinic”, the volunteers of 4 Zampe Rescue Albania write.
Immediately the volunteers went to the place to pick him up and send him to the clinic. A very intensive therapy waited for the poor dog after.
“He was so easy to be picked up because of his negligible weight. He didn’t have the strength himself”, said the volunteers.
The dog was named Whiskey. After performing all the examinations, the result included scabies, anaplasmosis, and high infection of the blood and whole body.
There was not much hope for life because of the high infection in his blood and body. But the volunteers of 4 Zampe Rescue Albania decided to give Whiskey a second chance to live. With great hope and prayer that the little one would make it.
The first days when Whiskey started the treatment were the most difficult days for him. We all hoped from day to day that Whiskey would make it and be the like any other four-legged friend.
Whiskey was responding well to the cure. Finally he was looking healthier and healthier. His skin began to fill with hair and he had now made a different appearance. Unfortunately, the blood and skin infections were no longer afflicting his body.
The 4ZRA volunteers’ continually visited Whiskey, caressing him and cooking specific food for him.
After a long time of treatment in the clinic, Whiskey’s appearance has now completely changed. He has nothing to do with the old version of him.
Currently, volunteers have put Whiskey up for adoption. Whiskey is a male dog, size medium, less than two years old. He is a Golden Retriever mixed with Labrador. Dog is vaccinated and neutered. He also gets along very well with dogs.Whiskey is not tested on cats.
